Health Screening

Female Hormone Screening

This profile looks at the female hormones and highlights any imbalances. Disproportion of hormones may lead to various types of symptoms and conditions and can cause infertility.

Our female hormone profile screening test includes FSH, LH, oestradiol, progesterone, prolactin and testosterone.

Product Description

    FSH - Follicle-stimulating hormone
FSH stimulates the development of ovarian follicles and regulates the menstrual cycle. FSH is one of the key hormones to determine your fertility (chances of getting pregnant).
    LH - Luteinizing hormone
LH is a key hormone that works closely with FSH and helps to control a menstrual cycle and your sexual drive. LH also helps to determine when ovulation will occur.
    Oestradiol (E2, Estradiol, 17-beta estradiol)
Oestradiol is made from cholesterol, and it plays the main role in maturing and maintaining the female reproductive system. A natural increase of oestradiol takes place during a womans menstrual cycle causing ovulation and it also helps to thicken the lining of the uterus, so the egg can implant if it's being fertilised.
    Progesterone
Progesterone is the main hormone of pregnancy. It prepares the tissue lining of the uterus to allow the fertilised egg to implant. Progesterone is essential for supporting the early stage of pregnancy and establishing of placenta. If the egg is not fertilized, the production of progesterone falls, and the new menstrual cycle begins.
    Prolactin
Prolactin is a hormone that's responsible for lactation, certain breast tissue development and milk production.
    Testosterone
Testosterone is produced by the gonads (sex glands) in both sexes, small amounts of testosterone are also produced in adrenal glands. It's an androgen, meaning that it's responsible for the development of male characteristics.
